Start with accurate positions
On Overview, add or import holdings and enter the actual share count and average cost for each position. Check the cash balance too. A ticker without shares is not included in the funded portfolio, so recommendations based on that position will be incomplete.
The tools use available market prices and your saved information. Review the inputs before relying on any estimate. For the allocation models and target mix, follow the separate optimization walkthrough.
Let Auto Pilot prepare a review (Pro & Advisor)
Open Auto Pilot after entering share counts for at least two priced holdings. Choose Conservative, Moderate, or Aggressive; then press Run review now to see an optimization, stress scenarios, market regime, tax notes and a proposed trade list.
To hunt for new names, press Scan the market. The scan checks every S&P 500 and Nasdaq stock you don't already own through the same rules engine as the desk, then adds the ten strongest trending names to your watchlist with the reasons each was chosen. Tap any pick to open its full verdict.
For recurring reviews, turn on Run daily after the close + on triggers, set the drift and price-move thresholds, and press Save settings. The schedule only takes effect once saved. Scheduled reviews run on the live site; you can run a review manually at any time.
Approve each proposed trade on Today's Review. There you choose where the order goes: your Marvelous portfolio (which updates your holdings and cash), or a linked Alpaca practice or live account. A confirmation dialog checks the account's buying power or shares before anything is sent, and a built-in safeguard prevents a retry from placing a duplicate order. Dismissing a trade simply files it away.
Alerts that act, and signals that buy back
On Today's Review, open Alert ranges. Choose the gain that counts as take profit, the loss that counts as a stop, whether a loss should suggest a sell or a buy-the-dip, and whether you want an email when an alert fires. Your ranges are saved in the browser you set them in.
While the dashboard is open, live prices are checked continuously. When a position enters your range, a flashing ALERT card appears with the stock, the gain or loss, the reason and the live price, and an alert email is sent once per position per day. Type a share count and press Buy now or Sell now — the trade fills in your Marvelous portfolio at the shown price, and every total on the page updates immediately. These alerts only run while the dashboard is open on your screen.
Sell out of a position completely and it moves to your watchlist for re-entry. When it later turns to a buy signal, a flashing card returns with a suggested share count sized to bring the portfolio back toward balance. Confirm once and the position re-opens using your cash. Press the × on a card to stop watching that name.
Trade a linked brokerage account
Open Broker Account under Wealth. Choose Paper (practice) or Live, paste the API Key ID and Secret from your Alpaca account, and press Link account. Keys are encrypted before they are stored and are never shown in the browser again. Your manually entered Marvelous portfolio stays separate — broker orders never change it.
The page shows account value, cash, buying power, positions and recent orders, refreshing every 15 seconds. Place a Buy or Sell order, and cancel any order that has not filled with Delete (or Delete all open). Filled orders cannot be deleted — place the opposite trade to reverse one. Sells larger than the account actually holds are stopped with a clear message before they ever reach your broker.
To let Auto Pilot trade the linked account, confirm each proposed trade on Today's Review. Practice orders placed outside market hours wait until the next open.
Try a change without making it
In the What-If Simulator, choose a Quick scenario for an immediate result, or add a proposed sell, buy, replacement, sector reduction or cash contribution. You can also enter a stock-market, interest-rate or oil-price shock. Press Run simulation after editing the inputs.
Compare the Before → Proposed → Difference table, the tax consequences and sector exposure. This is a scenario only: it does not change your holdings or place a trade. Shock effects and future returns are estimates, not forecasts.
Enter real purchase lots (Pro & Advisor)
Open Tax Center. Set your filing status and taxable income, then press Save profile. Under Tax lots, enter each ticker, shares, cost per share and actual acquisition date, and press Add lot. Use separate entries for purchases made on different dates.
Review short- and long-term gains, harvesting opportunities, wash-sale warnings and the gain/loss calendar. Use What if I sell this position? for a quick estimate, or the simulator for a full portfolio comparison. Missing recorded lots use an assumed date from when the position was added; replace those assumptions before relying on the tax split. Federal figures use the displayed 2025 brackets and are estimates, not tax advice.
Put a probability on a goal
In Goals, press New goal, name it, and enter your target amount, years, planned monthly contribution and risk tolerance. Choose whether to start from your live portfolio value or a separate current-savings amount, then press Save.
Compare the probability of success, required return and contribution with the projected range and alternative scenarios. Adjust your inputs to see how contributions, time or risk assumptions change the result; save the changes you want to keep. Simulated markets are illustrations, not guaranteed outcomes.
Monitor a client book (Advisor)
In the Advisor Command Center, press Add client and enter a name, risk profile and starting cash. Open the client in the Client book and add each holding with ticker, shares, average cost and acquisition date.
To monitor allocation drift, enter a target mix in the client details, one ticker and percentage per line (for example, VOO 60), then save it. The daily attention list highlights concentration, drift, tax and risk exceptions; open a row to examine the client before acting. Client positions here are entered separately from your personal Overview.
Keep a living strategy
On Strategy plan, press Build my plan for an initial strategy, risk assessment and action checklist based on your holdings. Press Update plan for a fresh read whenever you want one; an existing plan also refreshes as it ages while the page is visible.
Put your own rules and reminders in Your notes and press Save notes. These notes stay when the generated plan is rebuilt. Use Discuss with the analyst to explore the plan in chat.
Trace a recommendation back to its evidence
Open the Decision Ledger to review calls recorded after AI analysis, AI desk recommendations and Auto Pilot reviews. Filter by source, press Refresh for the latest records, or press Evidence to see the original model, market timestamp and supporting data.
Entries are private to your account and cannot be revised after recording. Records marked Imported history · unverified predate ledger protection; do not treat them as independently verified. The ledger records recommendations, not broker executions or proven investment outcomes, and shows the latest 200 records.
